Reggie D'souza Awarded The IAIJ Award For Journalism!
By Maurice Ali, President: International Association Of Independent Journalists Inc.
Reggie D'souza
By unanimous vote, the Board of Directors at IAIJ has awarded Reggie D'souza the IAIJ Award for Journalism. This decision was based on Mr. D'souza's article on being detained at the well publicized "kettling" at the G20 Summit on July 26, 2010. Reggie had to endure four hours of cold and rain while "allegedly" being unlawfully detained in the area of Queen Street and Spadina Avenue. He, nevertheless, was able to submit his report to us and have it published in our September, 2010 issue of The Fortress Newspaper. His story, more than anything, exemplifies the reason for IAIJ's being as without membership in this association, independent journalists have no valid credentials to present to police when asked why they were at that particular gathering on that particular date. All of the above factors made the decision to award Reggie Desouza the award a very easy decision indeed.
So congratulations Mr. D'souza on your presentation of the IAIJ Award For Journalism!
