The 55th Canadian Commission for UNESCO AGM!
By Maurice Ali, President: IAIJ Inc.
The National Arts Centre in Ottawa!
The Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCU) Annual General Meeting (AGM) started at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada (June 4-6, 2015) with speeches from the executives of the CCU including a cake cutting ceremony marking UNESCO’s 70th Anniversary. This event was a reception to meet other members of the CCU before the more formal meetings starting tomorrow and on Saturday.
A cake cutting ceremony!
I unfortunately missed Friday's afternoon activities due to a scheduled meeting with a Canadian Broadcast entity as it relates to our television productions. We are constantly juggling things as I wear many hats. You cannot just put all our hopes and goals in one area just in case that one does not work out as expected. So a hectic day for me.

On Friday (June 4) the formal proceedings of the AGM took place at the Canadian War Museum located in Ottawa.
Today was a morning of speeches. First was from the President of the CCUNESCO: Christina Cameron.

There were more speakers (present and planned) than the pictures I present like Mark O’Neill; Sarah Fountain Smith; Line Beauchamp and current members of the CCU from Louise Filiatrault who is the Secretary-General of the CCU and other staff were also present.
On Saturday, the last day of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO AGM were summaries of the event thus far. We also got to meet H.E. Elaine Ayotte, our new Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Canada to UNESCO .

Later on we had that performance by YAO!

Then there were the usual closing ceremonies and the question as to what all of us could do to promote UNESCO and UNESCO ideals in each of our lives this year and the AGM came to a close. Then there was the mad rush to the airport and back to Toronto. This AGM was one of the best ever and many thanks to all at the Canadian Commission for UNESCO!
