Toronto’s Pride Parade 2017!
By Samantha Blackwell
Toronto (Canada) has one of the largest Pride Parades in the world. Pride in Toronto is an annual event and is now called Pride Month starting on June 1 with festivities and all sorts of side events that lead up to the big Pride Parade on June 25 (2017). The actual parade started as a protest march for activists trying to get attention to the problems facing the Gay community of Toronto. This year's Pride Parade is the 37th parade in Toronto.
Here I am all ready for the Pride Parade!
The Parade and side events were a lot of run from the costumes and parade to the parties. Positive vibes and welcoming atmosphere as well as educational kiosks were featured at Pride. What follow are some pictures from the Pride Parade 2017:
Crowds at the parade!

Another shot of people at the Pride Parade!
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was also part of the parade procession as can be seen in the photo above (Global News Photo). Along with the Prime Minister is his wife and two children. The fact a sitting Prime Minister can participate in a Pride Parade shows the progress and acceptance of the Gay/Lesbian (LGBTQ) community in Toronto and Canada as a nation! |
