Point And Shoot In The Glove Box - Still Worth it?

By Susan Earps

With cell phones now sporting five megapix and more is the standby cheap camera in the car's glove box still needed? I would still say yes. The cell phone is always there but even a cheap point and shoot still delivers a better lens and zoom and more definition at higher clarity for the same size of file. There is less lag to take another shot as the buffer is better.

This biggest difference for me is the video. You can take decent video from a point and shoot but the cell phones still gives you blocky artifacts in the video. It is better than nothing but the video really needs to be improved on cell phones to compete with the cheapest of point and shoots.

So I would say that if you have time to pull out the camera from your glove box you should continue to do it.
